Magnani, Maira is a Ph.D. candidate in Sciences Humaines et Sociologie at the University of Neuchâtel (Switzerland) and in Geography at the Universidade Federal Fluminense (Brazil) (co-tutelle scheme). She develops research in the field of financial geography on the performance of Brazilian pension funds in the alternative investment industry (ESG, infrastructure, real estate market and private equity). She is interested in investigating the recent approximation of pension funds with the financial industry and, more specifically, the efforts conducted on several fronts by the Brazilian financial industry in order to channel and attract institutional clients. She also takes part in a research project on the investment behavior of financial investors in the Brazilian commercial real estate (CRE) market shedding light on how the heterogeneity of organizational rules and routines, ownership structure and access to funding modify financial actors' investment in CRM. Her papers are published in lead journals including Economic Geography, Environment and Planning A, and Area Development and Policy.
